In the 2 months since I arrived, I've taken about 20 workshops with casting directors. One of those casting directors was Scott David, who called the next day with an audition for Criminal Minds - my first network episodic audition in LA!
I've also taken the first level of improv training at The Groundlings and been promoted to the next level in the New Year. The program is intense and the critiquing relentless and unforgiving - and therefore probably the best acting training I've had. No wonder so many of their members are successful working actors.
It's been interesting to go to several tapings to understand the process on set and to see the differences between networks and between pilots and long-running sitcoms. It's also been informative attending the TV show screenings and interviews of cast members at SAG, hearing about the actors' experiences auditioning for the pilots and the weekly process from table read to shooting.
As we approach the holidays, I look back on everything that has happened this fall with awe and move forward into the New Year with great anticipation.
